I am going to say something upfront: I run an app development company in Pune. So you should read this with that in mind and evaluate it accordingly.

That said, I will tell you what I genuinely believe, because the most useful thing I can do is help you make a good decision — even if that decision is not to hire us.

What to Actually Look For

Forget the glossy websites, the portfolio decks, and the client logo walls for a moment. The single most useful filter when evaluating any Pune app development company is this: can they show you something live — an actual app on Google Play or the App Store — that real people use?

Not mockups. Not "projects in development." Not apps for clients who have not launched yet. An actual working app that you can download and use right now.

This filter alone eliminates a significant portion of companies in Pune who call themselves app developers but have primarily done web development, or have only built internal tools, or have portfolios full of demo projects.

The Pune App Development Landscape

Pune has a genuinely strong tech ecosystem — the presence of companies like Infosys, Wipro, and Persistent, combined with good engineering colleges, has built a real talent base. But the market has also attracted a lot of companies that are better described as outsourcing shops than product studios.

The distinction matters for your project. An outsourcing shop will build what you specify. A product studio will push back when what you specified is not the best solution, suggest alternatives, and care about whether your product actually succeeds.

Red Flags to Watch For

A quote within 24 hours of your first message, without detailed questions about your requirements. A portfolio that is all web projects, with mobile apps listed but no Play Store or App Store links. Promises of very short timelines for complex work. No clear process for handling scope changes. Unclear IP ownership terms.
